I feel that i am an Ancient spirit….trapped in the modern western world of the 21st century.
Hence, my artistic works are inspired by the myths and legends of the Ancient Ones, with subtle influences of modernity.
As no one seems to have the answers for the question of how we can create a better way of life… I look away from this reality for an alternative perspective of life and its meanings.
Maybe we all need to look further out or further inside.
Mythology has been a way to describe and /or understand the physical or scientific occurrences and realities of life while offering a methodology towards coping with a world we do not control, Yet in which we must find our place, our role.
I use Angels, mermaids and the Gods of Ancient Egypt as models for my tapestries of images…. seeking to evoke feelings of strength, positive energy and serenity in myself and in all viewers.
More than anything, I would like to stimulate the vibrational levels and feelings within the viewer.
Each picture has a story…… I leave it to the viewer to observe and put together the story the picture creates for him or her. Yet, again… there is a particular story which I myself have put to canvas.
Sometimes the viewer may see my story as I have stated it… Or they may create their own interpretation of the scenario I have created.
I have always painted…… from early childhood…. and I just never stopped loving art.
I studied art and then fashion in my earlier years, and have done some professional work in fashion, but now mostly paint.
My Art is a symbol and testament of my own rebirth.
These paintings are a new life... pouring out of me.
Full of my , heart, soul, laughter, tears and consciousness yet in possession of a life all of their own…. A life for you to discover.
The meanings there with, are coded in a symbolism, easily recognisable and accessible to subjective interpretation, as it mirrors my own alter- consciousness.
I have survived a mirade of lifes vissistudes...
I have experienced the living nightmare that life can be…
and through my Art…
I am finally able to put those experiences behind me…
And i arise... like the…… phoenix… from its ashes.
